Manual

Media: Image, Video, Green Screen and 3D Object

Frame the file

Add an image or video from the media family. Open its content page. Inspect the source thumbnail and file information. Replace a source with Replace…; use Locate… or Find Missing… when the file is unavailable.

Open Frame. Choose a Mode: Fill crops to the box, Fit keeps the whole file, and Free uses an independent size. Set Box % for Fill or Fit. Set Focal Point % and Lands On to direct the crop. Zoom % works with Fill; Size % is for Free.

Remove a green or blue screen

In the Green Screen section, click Key On: the Preset starts at Auto. Run Detect Screen to read the screen again. Inspect the Screen choice and the preset before refining the result. Open Check and change View to inspect the key. Use Skin Bias and Protect to retain important colours. Refine edge, shrink, soften and spill values in Advanced only after checking the source.

A key changes the media's transparency. It does not restore detail that the source never recorded. Use Undo after a poor automatic detection, or disable the key for that file.

Grade and time a video

Use Colour Grade for exposure, contrast, saturation and black-and-white adjustments. Use Corners & Border for the frame treatment.

On Timing, use Clip In, Clip Out, Speed % and Reverse to choose the video segment. Inspect the clip end behavior and audio settings. Media timing is separate from the element's entry, hold and exit.

3D Object

Open the Object family and add Selected Object, Collection…, Import File… or Primitive…. In the content page, Source > From offers Scene Object, Collection, Import File and Primitive. Imported files support .glb, .gltf, .fbx, .obj, .usd and .stl (including the USD variants handled by Blender). The appropriate Blender importer must be available. Files are imported into MotionDeck's library and reused when the same file is added again.

For Primitive, Shape offers Rounded Cube, Capsule, Sphere and Pill. Use Up (Auto, Z Up, Y Up) if an object stands the wrong way. Size % sets its height in the frame; zero means Auto.

Under Preset, choose Style:

PresetStarting result
Product HeroLands with Drop & Settle, then turns slowly.
Product OrbitRises into place; choose Product Orbit on the camera to move around it.
FloatScales in and floats gently.
BlocksCollection pieces pop into a grid one after another.

The look page starts with Keep Own for scene and imported geometry, preserving its materials. Other material choices colour MotionDeck's displayed geometry; primitives start with Auto. Select Colour after choosing a material that accepts it.

Animator and motion

The motion page combines the Animator controls with entry, idle and exit:

For a Collection or Import File, enable Piece by Piece in the content page to animate its objects separately and expose Arrange. Its Layout offers As Built, Grid, Ring, Line, Scatter, Spiral, Depth, Explode and On Your Object. As Built preserves the collection's arrangement; Explode pushes pieces away from its centre. On Your Object places pieces along a picked Curve (a path), or on sampled Mesh points. Use Pick a Curve or a Mesh, then refine Spread %, Stagger f and Keep Apart.

The timing page has Stay to the End. On the position page, use Depth (Front, Middle, Back), Position %, Turn ° and order controls to place the object relative to the text.

Your original stays yours

MotionDeck displays the source through its own object. It does not rewrite the original's geometry, materials or keyframes. While it shows the source, it hides the original and records its previous visibility. When no MotionDeck element uses it, that visibility is restored. Your Object > Show Originals restores hidden originals manually; disabling the add-on also restores them. Copy as Driver is an advanced option for exposing MotionDeck's motion as a driver path.
